BHVL to Open Three New Hotels in Chennai

Brigade Hotel Ventures Limited (BHVL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government to invest Rs. 1,100 crore in Chennai’s hospitality sector. The agreement was formalized during the Tamil Nadu Global Tourism Summit 2026 in the presence of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.

The investment will expand BHVL’s hotel portfolio, adding more than 500 keys across three premium hotels and creating over 1,000 high-value jobs, reinforcing Chennai’s position as a business and leisure hub.

“This MoU reflects our commitment to bring world-class hospitality to Chennai and aligns with the Government of Tamil Nadu’s vision to make the city a global destination for business and leisure travellers,” said Vineet Verma, Director at BHVL.

Three Major Hotel Projects Across Strategic Locations

BHVL’s new projects include:

  1. Courtyard by Marriott at Chennai World Trade Center

    • Approximately 45 well-designed rooms

    • Located 13 km from Chennai International Airport

    • Focused on business travellers and MICE events

  2. Grand Hyatt Chennai ECR

    • 211 rooms designed as a luxury resort

    • Situated along East Coast Road

    • Targeted at leisure and international travellers

  3. JW Marriott Chennai OMR

    • Around 250 stylish rooms and suites

    • Located on Old Mahabalipuram Road, the city’s IT corridor

    • Designed for IT professionals and business travellers

These developments more than double BHVL’s footprint in Chennai, following its Holiday Inn Chennai OMR IT Expressway project launched in 2017 with 202 keys.

Driving Employment and Economic Growth

The projects are expected to generate over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs, spanning hospitality operations, management, and ancillary services. For Chennai, a growing corporate and IT hub, this investment represents a significant contribution to local employment and economic development.

Analysts note that premium hotel supply along corridors like OMR and ECR has been limited. BHVL’s expansion aims to meet rising demand while setting international standards for service quality, amenities, and sustainability.

Chennai’s Hospitality Market on the Rise

Chennai is witnessing steady growth in hospitality demand, driven by:

  • IT industry expansion

  • Increased international conferences and conventions

  • Rising leisure travel

Sanjay Kumar, a hospitality analyst, said:

“Investments like BHVL’s not only increase hotel capacity but also raise service standards, reinforcing Chennai as a premium destination for business and leisure travellers.”

Strategic Growth and Long-Term Vision

With land already acquired, BHVL is positioned to execute its Chennai roadmap efficiently. The new hotels cater to business, leisure, and long-stay segments, ensuring a balanced and sustainable growth strategy.

“Our goal is to set new benchmarks in hospitality while supporting the government’s mission to enhance tourism infrastructure across Tamil Nadu,” added Vineet Verma.

As domestic and international travel rebounds, BHVL’s Rs. 1,100 crore investment strengthens Chennai’s hospitality ecosystem, offering modern, tech-enabled, and premium service experiences.
