Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker M Appavu has invited Governor R N Ravi to deliver the customary assembly address for the first session. The invitation was made during a visit to Raj Bhavan.
Appavu emphasized the Governor’s constitutional duty, referencing Article 176(1), which mandates a gubernatorial address at the start of each year’s first session. He likened it to the President’s address to Parliament, which is based on a text provided by the Union Government. Similarly, the state government provides the text for the Governor’s address.
In previous years, Governor Ravi deviated from the prepared speech, but Appavu confirmed that this year the Governor will read the full speech, stressing that only 234 elected representatives have the right to express their views in the assembly hall.
